It’s a curious thing, happiness, we all want it and strive for it, yet it sometimes falls just a little short of our grasp. We spend a tremendous amount of time determining what exactly would make us happy, more money, a better job, a bigger house, a nicer car, the perfect lover, a better date, and yet as each of these sometimes materialize; we still feel that we are not quite there yet. Something is still missing that will allow us to finally claim to be happy. The problem is happy is not a thing, it’s a state of mind.
The single most important ingredient in finding happiness is the people in our lives. If you look back over the course of your life, the happiest memories that touched your heart to the very core, involve people, not things. So as you go about your daily routine, take particular notice of the people in your life that make you smile, the people that project love just being there, your children, parents, siblings, friends, lovers, co workers, even a stranger. Stop for a minute and enjoy their presence and let them enjoy yours; surround yourself with these people every day, because in the grand scheme of things, these are the people that can bring you all the happiness you will ever want.
For my Jerseygirl, who asked “If you don’t know what happiness is, how will you know when you get there?” Everyone loves happy people; it’s what makes us feel good. We can all create our own happiness just by choosing to be happy. Every morning you wake up; make a decision to be happy today. You will know when you are there when you realize you have spent the majority of your days smiling and laughing and the people around you are always happy to see you. Good Luck!!
