Are You Controlled By the Spirit?

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2)

Excluding approximately 8 hours of sleep most of us experience each day, each week we spend over 100 hours in all kinds of activities. Work and play, rest and relaxation. As each week ticks away, how often are you in communion with the Holy Spirit, who indwells each believer? (1 Cor 3:16) How often are you seeking His guidance as you are confronted with trials or decisions to make? How often do you recognize His hand in your circumstances, His answers to your prayers and pause to give thanks? How often do you say to yourself “What would Jesus do?” which results in actions that bring glory to God and effective witnessing. If the answers to these questions is frequently, then it appears that you are living “in the Spirit”, allowing the Holy Spirit to control you and renew your mind and your are able to discern His will for your life. If you are unable to answer in that way, I pray that you abandon your worldly ways by submitting to the Holy Spirit. As Paul states in Romans 8:5-6:
"Those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires….. the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.”
