A very special lady that I often discuss the Philosophy of Love with wrote: “If you are not Brave enough to Love, you should never fall in Love”. Sounds good right? But is she right? Can you give up on Love simply so you do not get hurt?
I responded to her that if you are too afraid to be hurt, you are likely generally afraid of life and that Love is something you cannot help. Love happens and it comes whether you are afraid of it or not. She claimed that perhaps it is something you cannot help but that you can avoid falling in Love. Her beautiful and wise friend responded that many weak persons fall in Love and find strength through it. She added something I do not agree with but which seems true for me at times; she said that Love makes no mistake. I know for a fact that Love makes mistake, but I also know for a fact that Love makes a weak person strong. Heartache also makes Love and passion stronger even if we cannot recognize it when we are suffering.
The fact is that if you are afraid of loving because you may get hurt and you avoid it; you will lose out in Life. If run away the second you feel that special tingly feeling inside that thrills most of us—you not only run away from that person that gives you that great feeling, but you run away from life. Believe you me, running away from life is like trying to run from you shadow, you can do it for a few hours but you cannot do it forever, the shadows of life and Love will always catch up with you. Besides what if that person is part of your daily life, will you just pack up and leave just to avoid Love? If you are weak, can you resist it if that person is always around you? Probably not. If you are not brave, find courage and great wisdom and strength by running to Love and not running from life.
If your body is weak you exercise it, and even if you suffer pain at the beginning of your workout; at the end you come out happy and energize. Someone who is afraid of Love has to run to it so they can exercise Love and find the strength they never knew they had. Sure, there will many times when the heart will hurt, not just one but many. In the end however, like exercise a Love will come that will never hurt again! That final Love, the one you live happily ever after with; is the Love you will miss if you never dare to Love!
