Are you asking the Universe, “What is my purpose in life?”

One of my favorite questions to ask the Universe is, “What is my purpose in life?” When we ask Spirit any question with intention and expectation, the Universe responds. When we don’t ask the questions, the Universe shakes things up to guide us. My experience has told me it is much easier to ask the questions than wait for the Universe’s way of getting us on track. I have found that the Lifesign Process offers an effective way to gain insight on life purpose.

When Life Purpose is off Course

Recently I attended a meditation retreat. Each time I go to a retreat or spiritual workshop I set an intention. At this event, my intention was to hone in on my mission in life. It was to be a check-in with the Universe to ensure I was on track. I had asked Spirit this question many other times in my life, though only once before did I have a feeling that I was “off course” or heading in the wrong direction.

One of the reasons I wondered if I was off course was because the Universe had been guiding me away from projects I believed were related to my purpose. This is a sign of interference from the Universe.

Mission in Life

When I say purpose in life, or mission, I am not referring to a vocational mission, though I recognize for some people their purpose is entwined in their careers. This is not the case for most, however. It is my belief that we are here to uncover the truth about who we are. We are all Divine beings here to experience humanity. We are here to reveal our gifts to the world and make our mark during this shift in consciousness. We achieve the same goal differently because we have unique gifts and a personal inner calling about how we are to accomplish our purpose. That inner calling provides clues to what we long to do in our life.

Inner Calling

At one time in my life, I knew I was here to help people understand and respect individual differences. That was my inner calling and what drove me, and while I wasn't a writer the Universe led me down a path that changed everything in my life. Then, writing, my inner calling, became a tool for me to serve my purpose.

Inner Guidance System

When we are in sync with the Universe, we have available to us a life compass or inner guidance system, which directs us along our path to accomplish what we have set out to do. We can ask the Universe any question, including “What is my purpose in life?” And we can gain insight.

When we ask Spirit questions with intention, we can expect guidance. That is the first step of the Lifesign Process. That guidance, however, can come from anywhere. Spirit sends messages not only in meditation or prayer, but in our dreams, in the music we hear and in everyday life. The events in our lives, our conversations, and interactions with others provide clues to questions we ask Spirit. If we only look for Spirit’s guidance in inner work, we’ll miss the miracles of synchronicity, serendipity or unexplainable events, which occur all around us.

By asking the Universe a question, we set in motion miracles. The answers reveal themselves in the events of our life. That is the foundation of my book Lifesigns: Tapping the Power of Synchronicity, Serendipity and Miracles, though know that when you aren’t asking those fundamental questions, the Universe does guide you with subtle clues in your everyday life. Unfortunately, most of the time those clues are missed because we’re not fully present.

If you are pondering your purpose in life, have you asked Spirit to reveal it to you? And paid attention? It is my favorite question when working the Lifesign Process.

Lifesigns: Tapping the Power of Synchronicity, Serendipity and Miracles provides a unique five-step process to help tap the Universe’s power so that we lead happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
