Are you a special treasure to God? Conclusion

“The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the LORD tests the hearts.” (Proverbs 17:3).

Freshwater Pearls and Swarovski Amethyst Crystals and Sterling Silver

In the previous article we discussed what God loves more than precious stones.

God is telling us that in order to be His jewels He will test us and through the testing He sees what we truly are! We must listen to His instructions instead of trying to gain silver and we must put on His knowledge rather than going after gold!

There is gold and a multitude of rubies, But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel” (Proverbs 20:15).

These are His instructions!

“Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her” (Romans 8:10-11).

Where do we find wisdom? If we are prudent we are wise, because wisdom ‘lives’ with prudence!

I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion” (Proverbs 8:12).

To be prudent means to exercise good judgment, common sense, caution, foresight, and circumspection.

“Foresight implies the ability to foresee and make provision for what may happen: She had the foresight to make backups of her computer files. Forethought suggests advance consideration of future eventualities: The empty refrigerator indicated a lack of forethought. Circumspection implies discretion, as out of concern for moral or social repercussions:”

We are instructed to search for wisdom and seek to be discreet in all matters.

If we hate evil, we will love goodness and that is what God wants to see in us!

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.”

If we have sound wisdom we will have understanding and strength!

“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength” (Proverbs 8:10-13).

Think of mercy and truth like a beautiful necklace of precious jewels.

“Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart”(Proverbs 3:3).

“And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones” (Proverbs 8:4-8).

So what have we learned?

“The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” (Psalms 19:9-10).

Putting on wisdom, knowledge and understanding by obeying God is what will make us into His special treasure and precious jewels!

More than any physical jewels, God desires us to fear Him by keeping His laws, judgments and statutes which gives us wisdom, knowledge and understanding, mercy and truth and all of God’s attributes!

"Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. "They shall be Mine," says the LORD of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him" (Malachi 3:16-17).
