If a pro-lifer has had their kids vaccinated for rubella, hepatitis A, varicella and rabies, then, in essence, they have obviously chose to ignore the fact that these vaccines were created and cultivated with the cells of intentionally aborted fetal tissue.
Two different strains of human diploid cell cultures made from aborted fetal tissue have been used in the production of vaccines for decades. WI-38 was developed in the United States in 1961 and MRC-5 was developed in the United Kingdom in 1966. WI-38 came from the lung cells of a female fetus of 3-months gestation and MRC-5 was developed from the lung cells of a 14-week-old male fetus. Both fetuses were intentionally aborted and the fetal tissues that eventually became WI-38 and the MRC-5 cell cultures were removed from fetuses that were dead.
The WI-38 and MRC-5 cell cultures have been used to prepare hundreds of millions of doses of rubella, hepatitis A, varicella and rabies vaccines.
