Are you a misfit?

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

This world defines certain people as misfits. Since these unique ones do not look or sound like the marvelous individuals of society, they are often ridiculed or overlooked. We Christians will not always excel the standard of this world, but to God we are still fearfully and wonderfully made.

Do not feel discouraged if you have failed to live up to this world’s expectations. Remember, we are living based on the rules of God’s Kingdom, not the customs of our society!

First Corinthians 1:27 reminds us that “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”

We are the foolish and weak things that God is using to accomplish great works. We, the ones they call misfits, are bringing God glory each time we thrive because of our obedience to him. If some people actually take the time to really hear our testimonies, they will see that many of us Christians are walking miracles.

Let the world keep the rules of their kingdom, but we must continue to follow the rules of our Father’s Kingdom. And because he is our King, we gladly and wisely accept Psalm 139:13-16, which states,

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Here is a poetic interpretation of this topic

Misfit

I see that my eyes are the wrong color, honestly.

I see that my hair is the wrong texture and flow.

I see that my height means no runway for me

Because the world wisely tells me so.

I only glow next to my King

But to the world I’m just not “it”.

Yet He has given me a gift to bring

Though you won’t see that ‘cause I’m your misfit.

I’m like a peculiar idea or maybe the rain.

I’m what you need faith to understand.

I’m like the bitter medicine for someone’s pain.

I’m the one with no legs but I stand by His command.

I know your brain cannot perceive my worth.

I know you can’t figure me out since I’m not “it”.

But the divine was deposited in me before birth

Though you won’t see that ‘cause I’m your misfit.
