As women, we are constantly putting time restraints on ourselves. Chores, work schedules, children, husbands, family, in-laws, friends, social gatherings, church and volunteer services keep us pretty busy. It sure isn't 1956 when all Mrs. Clever had to do was put the roast in the oven for dinner while walking around with a feather duster, heels, pearls and an apron. Times have changed.
Today's woman is actually superwoman. Most of us should just walk around with a giant "S" on our chests. We are expected to get a week's worth of errands completed in just a few hours. Calendars are filled before the new year even begins. What does this lead to? Stress, fatigue and weight gain.
The most common New Year's resolution is to lose weight and exercise. Who has time for that? We barely have time to sleep. Raise your hand if you feel guilty for sleeping in an extra twenty minutes. Those twenty minutes could be spent straightening the house or throwing a load of clothes in the washer, right?
This year, start out fresh and make a resolution to be easier on yourself. Be kind to yourself. You deserve a thirty minute walk or an occasional bubble bath. Order take-out. Sleep in once in a while. Take a nap. The chores will still be there when you wake up. You have nothing to prove and you deserve to be happy. You will see the difference in your body and attitude. Enjoy being you!
