Have we ever dreamed about taking a vacation and not really done anything about it? In a study done by Harris Interactive for Expedia.com, 20 countries were surveyed on who gets and takes the most vacation time as well as attitudes toward vacation. Apparently, Americans take less vacation than most European countries. While this is no surprise to anyone, the common themes impacting this reality are money, seasonal choices, and unfortunately disapproving bosses.
It seems that the majority of those surveyed love a beach getaway as it rates as the most popular vacation type. A romantic themed holiday, a city escape holiday, and an outdoor adventure holiday are the other most popular vacation types in that order.
So why do so many skip vacation days? According to the Harris Interactive study, Americans earn a moderate to low amount of vacation days as compared to our European counterparts, but still leave 3 days unused on average. While the obvious is the expense to take a family on vacation these days, it is also true that there is a perceived disapproval that many companies or bosses discourage employees from taking the vacation time that they do have.
It’s not always easy to plan an extended vacation these days. With all of the travel sites to choose from and deals that are found on the internet, it can get overwhelming and sometimes the deals don’t seem to measure up once you find out what the bottom line is.
Here are some booking tips from some of the online travel sites for getting good travel deals. Tuesdays generally feature the best deals on airline ticket prices.
