America is being led to believe the Occupy Wall Street protests are spontaneous and filled with people angry at the system.
But are they? An ad suggests a left wing New York political party is paying people to take part in the protests.
New York's Working Families Party has an ad on craigslist promising a salary of $350 - $650 per week for those who meet the group's requirements.
The ad, placed in September, says the party is "seeking immediate hires" to participate in the protests.
"FIGHT TO HOLD WALLSTREET (sic) ACCOUNTABLE NOW! MAKE A DIFFERNENCE (sic) GET PAID!" the ad's headline screams.
"You must be an energetic communicator, with a passion for social and economic justice," the ad reads.
"Only outgoing, articulate dedicated, determined candidates will be considered for the positions."
The ad continues:
For those candidates that qualify WFP offers substantial paid-training provided by senior leadership, on varied issues such as: advocacy, public speaking, mobilizing, fundraising, networking and organizing. We invest in passionate people with excellent communication skills and a full benefits package is offered to those candidates that qualify. In addition, there is opportunity for advancement and travel to our satellite chapters and out of state affiliates.
This is not a policy job! Through direct action you will be shaping NY state politics for the next 20 years.
An article at The Blaze notes the party ran another ad on Sept 21, looking for people to help "MAKE CEO'S & WALL STREET EXECUTIVES PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE NOW!!"
Ed Morrissey of Hot Air adds:
“Direct action” usually means protesting. In other words, WFP wants Astroturfers, presumably to join other Astroturfers who tire of their career at Wall Street in the coming days. I wonder how many of those currently at the #OWS protests are already drawing a salary from WFP?
And where is WFP getting the funds to pay these protesters? Is George Soros or one of his front groups footing the bill for this?
Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit reminds readers that the WFP is part of something called "America's Progressive Hexagon" that includes President Obama, SEIU, ACORN, The Democrat Socialists of America and The New Party. At the center of this hexagon is George Soros' Tides Foundation.
A post at Founding Bloggers notes that President Obama was the Working Families Party candidate:
In New York, President Obama was the Working Families Party candidate. It would have been nice if the mainstream media had done its job, and made the people of this nation aware of this group and its background. Either the press was too inept to do adequate research on WFP, or too indifferent. Either way, it is media malpractice of the highest order.
The Occupy Wall Street protests have now spread nationwide, from New York, to Spokane and Seattle, WA. A fledgling group in Coeur d'Alene, ID, is also planning a protest later in October.
