Are 'The Loved Ones' making an appearance in your town?

Australia has given us some great works of art. The Mad Max films, "Lake Mungo" and of course the Hemsworth brothers, (Chris and Liam.) Now comes "The Loved Ones," a horror film that seems twisted as any the US has offered lately.

Synopsis

In order to avoid a ghostly figure in the road, high school senior Brent Mitchell wraps his car around a tree, killing his father. Constantly confronted by his mother's emotional collapse after the accident, Brent escapes into a marijuana fueled world of loud metal music to block the pain and guilt. Dejected and out of sorts, he has a shot at happiness with his girlfriend Holly, a grounded, caring girl with drop dead good looks, a dream date for the high school prom. But his plans are thwarted by a disturbing series of events that take place under a mirrored disco ball, involving pink satin, glitter, syringes, nails, power drills and a secret admirer. Brent has become the prom king at a macabre, sadistic event where he is the entertainment.

Many teens have fallen prey to prom night. Carrie White didn't do very well, she ended up with Pig's blood all over her, the rest of the prom ended up dead.

Kim and her friends got theirs at Prom in 1980's, "Prom Night" starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

One of the best prom night's gone wrong is "Jawbreakers." The beautiful Rose McGowan gets hers at the prom. Not a horror film, unless you were Rose's character Courntey.

We can now add this Aussie film that flips that chick into the powerful, bad girl role.

"The Loved Ones" stars Xeavier Samuel, ("Twilight,") and Robin McLeavy, ("Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.")

Enjoy this film which seems to be on the road to cult classic.
