Why Use A Cheat Meal?
Dieting can be very stressful so it’s important to utilize cheat meals within our weight loss diet plans. Many of us who are dieting don’t even know about a cheat meal, or even how to properly utilize it within our weight loss efforts. The problem is that most people don’t know when, how, and what to eat in their diets, let alone when they should utilize a cheat meal within their weight loss diet plans.
The problem becomes more of a mental one that anything else. We diet for a month or two and only see minimal results, then we get tired of eating healthy and start to eat bad again. Then we repeat the process and never really get anywhere because were continuously spinning around in a cycle.
Strictly eating healthy foods that you usually wouldn’t eat is enough to drive someone crazy after awhile, so adding some bad food can help keep you sane in what may feel like an already insane time. The key is to create balance, work hard, and stay consistent and persistent with your weight loss efforts.
When Should I Use a Cheat Meal?
This happens to be the ultimate question when it comes to cheat meals. The answer is always different depending on a person's efforts and schedule. Depending on how long you’ve been dieting and how consistent you are with your diet will determine when and how much you should eat on your cheat day.
If you’ve been dieting for three days and want to have a cheat meal already, then you’re probably not going to get anywhere by doing that. You have too at least have about a months time in before you should start to utilize cheat meals. You should have also at least lost some weight before you attempt to cheat, that way you're not just cheating on your efforts.
If you're watching your calorie intake, be sure you don’t go way too overboard on your cheat day, it may do you more harm then good. But if you’re working out consistently and are following a strict diet, one time every two weeks or so isn’t bad too sneak in a cheat day. Be mindful of things that you’re putting in your body, only pick things you absolutely love to eat.
Are Cheat Meals Bad For Me?
Mentally they’re great for you, they allow you mind to rest for a little bit and help to satisfy your urges. But depending on the cheat meal, anything high in calories and fat isn’t going to be good for you. On the flip side, it may help boost your metabolism and kick it into overdrive once you start to workout and get back on your diet. So all in all it has it’s benefits, so I recommend you sneak one in every now and then, but just be mindful of what you're doing.
Should I Track My Cheat Meals?
Yes it’s vitally important to track the days you use at cheat days or cheat meals, that way you can see where your progress is at, and how the cheat meals are effective in your efforts. If you see that you’re sneaking in too many cheat meals in a short time period, you may want to back off and or even eat a little bit better during your cheat meals. Keep a log and track what you eat, that way you can reference back when you need too.
