Are banks open on Presidents Day, otherwise known as Washington's Birthday? Celebrated on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, many banks will be closed on the federal holiday, with a few exceptions.

If you need to do your banking at Bank of America, Chase, Citibank or Wells Fargo, all locations will be closed on Monday.

However, TD Bank customers will find all branches open for business on Feb. 17, 2014. Credit unions and smaller bank hours vary, so it's best to call ahead.

Some banks open their supermarket branches on federal holidays. In the past, Citizens Bank branches located inside grocery stores were open limited hours on certain holidays, but call your local branch before you head out.

When banks are closed, customers can use an ATM to get cash or online banking to pay bills or check balances. Many larger banks also have mobile apps so customers can do their banking on their smartphone.

Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Because President Lincoln's birthday is also in February, the holiday often called Presidents' Day.
