Recently , two guns were found in students' backpacks at two different schools in Memphis, Tennessee. One of the guns discharged in an elementary school cafeteria in a kindergartens’ backpack, and the other gun was unloaded in another student’s backpack on a middle school campus.
In my opinion, something has to be done. I recommend doing away with backpacks. YES. I as a child, along with my classmates, did not used backpacks. Children actually CARRIED their books. If one had six tests the next day, one carried six books home to studied with. Heaven forbid if we make children of today’s lazy society actually carried their books of knowledge.
What will it actually take-deaths? National Football League have outlawed backpacks in NFL stadiums because of the Boston Bombings.During the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, two pressure cooker bombs were placed in two backpacks, killing 3 people and injuring an estimated 264 others. It is barbaric to think guns are carried to school by blameless children not knowing such killing devices were located in their backpacks. If we are not going to ban backpacks, then careful search must be a justified routine chore by teachers and parents.
