Archetype of Courage is a new "Magic: The Gathering" card spoiled today Jan. 16, 2014 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Born of the Gods" in tweet by Magic Judges. At just three mana Archetype of Courage is a fantastic uncommon creature card that provides an overwhelmingly powerful effect.

Archetype of Courage - 1WW
Enchantment Creature - Human Soldier (Uncommon)
Creatures you control have first strike.
Creatures your opponents control lose first strike and can't have or gain first strike.
"It has been my experience that soldiers most fervently follow generals who lead by example."

Archetype of Courage significantly removes a key advantage of aggressive creatures your opponent may be playing in their deck. Just take a look at a few of these staples that loose their edge: Anax and Cymede, Ash Zealot, Boros Reckoner, Carnival Hellsteed, Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch, Fiendslayer Paladin, Master of Cruelties, and Truefire Paladin. Unfortunately although Double Strike creatures deal first strike and normal combat damage Archtype of Courage won't stop Bonescythe Sliver.

Because Archetype of Courage grants your creatures first strike, you'll have a decisive advantage in combat, especially when you're on the defense and can team up several of your blockers against larger attackers to take them out.

Archetype of Courage will be a devastating card in limited, and due to its uncommon rarity it'll be popping up quite often. Make sure you draft it - Unless you want to be starring down at it on your enemy's side of the battlefield.

How will you use Archetype of Courage?
