An Aragon man is currently in custody at the Polk County jail and charged with child sex crimes.
As defined by Georgia Statutes, a person commits the offense of child molestation when he or she does any immoral or indecent act to or in the presence of or with any child under the age of 16 years with the intent to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of either the child or the person.
A person commits the offense of sexual battery when he or she intentionally makes physical contact with the intimate parts of the body of another person without the consent of that person.
Padgett was released from the Coffee Correctional Facility in April of this year after serving 10 years on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Prior to that, Padgett's arrest record with the Georgia Department of Corrections shows that he was sentenced on charges of simple battery and sexual battery from 1995 and on charges of first degree arson and theft by receiving stolen property from 1989.
Padgett was serving the remainder of his sentence on parole at the time of this arrest. and remains in custody with bond denied at the time of this publication.
