The Little Mermaid song, "Under the Sea," was surely the inspiration for Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills. At this very VIP, hot spot, you will need to use all of your connections to get in; but it is worth it. Suggestion: arrive early. However, be advised, the real party does not start until after 10 p.m., with the crowd lasting until after 1 a.m..
Aqua Lounge is an upscale restaurant and bar located at 424 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, California 90210, (310) 275-8511. Aqua Lounge refers to their menu as "creative world cuisine," and features such items as seafood tapas; kobe beef burgers; crab cakes with avocado relish; and seafood linguini.
The most astonishing things about Aqua Lounge are: the feeling one is on a ship deck and the aquariums surrounding ever inch of the restaurant.
For those of you in the know, Guides by Bravo compares Aqua Lounge to the ultra exclusive, Annabel's in London. Aqua Lounge also has a private, extremely exclusive, VIP room, decorated in a comforting wood panel design. Unless you are an A-list celebrity, you unfortunately are not likely to venture the VIP room. Regardless, the rest of Aqua Lounge is set up to feel ultra exclusive, and many celebs venture around the dance floor. Thus, if you want a night on the town, and a networking opportunity, Aqua Lounge is the place to go.
DJs play music form 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily, with live music regularly on the venue, including celebrity band, Denis Quaid and the Sharks. Aqua Lounge's live music acts range from jazz to funk. Check their website for up to date information on who is playing.
Bill Maher, who is a connoisseur of Beverly Hills hot spots, has been seen here. Also seen at Aqua Lounge are: Billy Bush, Sasha Cohen, and Terri Hatcher.
The regular dining room has a coral reef feel. While the VIP room is wood paneled and gives the comfortable feeling, one is dining at the captain's table of a famous ship. A numero uno, popular cocktail that you can not miss at Aqua Lounge, is one of their white russians. Cheers.
If you are looking to make it a night of hitting more than one spot, then swing by Nic's Martini Lounge, which is walking distance. Remember, Dr. Leigh-Davis promotes walking. It is good for the physic and the soul. Whatever you do, never, ever, ever drink and drive.
