On Tuesday, February 5th, Alabama Public Television (APT) had planned on providing the stations in their network a "State of the State" address by Robert Bentley, the governor of Alabama, through their main programming service between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m instead of "The PBS NewsHour", which was usually provided during that time period from Monday through Friday for the stations to broadcast on their main broadcast channels (the main broadcast channel for WEIQ-TV in Mobile was radio frequency channel 41-1/virtual channel 42-1). Alabama Public Television still planned on providing "The PBS NewsHour" through their APT WORLD programming service between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and again between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. for the first sub-channels of each of their stations (WEIQ-TV would broadcast the program on radio frequency sub-channel 41-2/virtual sub-channel 42-2).
