April's Eatery: Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Take a stroll down the streets of historic downtown Fort Myers and you will find the hustle and bustle of your every day woes begin to melt away. Here, the pace is not quite as hurried, people stop to say hello and you find yourself longing for the days of yesteryear when neighbors were neighborly and people knew each other.

Located on First Street under the Arcade Theater Marquee, you will find a small restaurant called April's Eatery. Here, Cliff Dodd & Kitty Tyler are serving up homemade soups, sandwiches and pie, as they have for the past 16 years. The menu is full of delicious offerings that range in price from $0.70 to $5.60. Where else in town can you get an Egg Salad Spinach Wrap, Small Chef Salad and two bottled waters for $11?

The restaurant itself has a small dining area with a great picture window view of the newly refurbished downtown street. As you walk in the door to the restaurant you are met with a hardy hello, and the regular lunch patrons are greeted by name. The food is served up from inside a replica of an old street car, quite literally, named "Desire." The food is made fresh to order and is served with a great big smile.

Take a moment to enjoy this one of a kind place in the heart of downtown Fort Myers. April's Eatery is located at 2269 First St, Fort Myers, FL and is open for your dining pleasure Monday-Friday 7am-2pm, make sure to stop by the ATM first, as this is a ‘Cash Only’ establishment.

I absolutley love this place, the pie here is so good it's insane. I ordered a Pineapple Cream Pie from here for thanksgiving and it was gone in like 2 minutes. Their Soup and Sandwich lunches are reasonable and good. If you stay in and eat you can get a free side of there delicious macaroni salad.
