April is Autism Awareness Month. Many parents of children with autism choose to homeschool. This writer has twin boys, age 15, with autism.
According to Generation Rescue, 1 in 91 children have autism (formally 1 in 150 up until 2009 and 1 in 10,000 in the early 1990s).
Autism is treatable and in some cases, reversible, depending on the cause. However, it's important to remember that all cases of autism are as unique as the individuals who have the disease.

My twin brother's youngest son is autistic, and his wife has chosen to homeschool him because of the inability of the public school system to deal with him. It's unfortunate, but an all too common story.
