Barnes & Noble in North Little Rock, located in The Other Center, is hosting a local author event Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet some of Arkansas’s most prominent authors and get their books signed. Headlining this special gathering will be Denise White Parkinson, author of the riveting nonfiction book Daughter of the White River Depression-Era Treachery and Vengeance in The Arkansas Delta about the notorious Helen Spence, who avenged her father’s murder in a DeWitt courtroom over eighty years ago. Parkinson is joined by author and neuroscientist Scott Weems who has written a fun, investigative read titled Ha!: The Science of When We Laugh and Why. Other local interest authors will be on hand as well.

Another event being held at Barnes & Noble on April 19 at 2 p.m. is the Educator’s Appreciation Reception. This popular event honors teachers who will be offered a savings of 25% on most items in the store. Refreshments will also be served.
