TRON: Legacy is the sequel to the 1982 cult classic TRON. It is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by TRON’s director and writer Steven Lisberger. Both Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprise their roles as Kevin Flynn / Clu and Alan Bradley / Tron respectively. After Kevin Flynn defeats MCP (Master Control Program) and returns to the outside world, he ends up becoming the CEO of ENCOM. However in 1989, the world’s greatest video game creator inexplicably disappears and leaves behind his young seven-year-old son Sam Flynn.

Twenty years later, Sam is 27 years old and ENCOM’s controlling shareholder. He has little interest in the company aside from an annual practical joke on its board of directors. When Kevin’s old friend and ENCOM’s executive Alan Bradley receives a mysterious page, he urges Sam to investigate the old Flynn’s Arcade. There in the basement, Sam discovers his father’s concealed computer laboratory and unintentionally transports himself inside the computer’s virtual world called the Grid.

Like Sam’s father, he is captured and taken to the gladiatorial games where he is forced to play against Rinzler, the champion of the games. When Rinzler realizes Sam is not a Program, but rather a User, he is taken to Clu the ruler of the Grid. Clu (Codified Likeness Utility) is a digital copy of Sam’s father and an updated version of the original hacking program Kevin created. Clu tries to kill Sam in a Light Cycle match, but a fearless female warrior program Quorra saves Sam just in time.
Sam and Quorra travel off the grid to the Outlands and he is reunited with his father. The happy father-son reunion is cut short when Kevin explains he was trapped inside the digital world by the traitor Clu. Vowing to destroy Clu, father, son and apprentice Quorra venture on an incredible cyber journey to save both the digital and outside world in an ultimate battle. Will the three be able to successfully defeat Clu and return to the outside world? Or will Sam meet the same fate as his father and be held captive in the digital world?
