Chris Brinker, the producer of The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, makes his directorial debut in the gritty action-packed crime thriller Bad Country, which he directed and co-produced from a script by Jonathan Hirschbein. Two-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe and Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon lead a star-studded cast that includes Amy Smart, Neal McDonough and Academy Award nominee Tom Berenger. Previously titled Whiskey Bay, Bad Country was Brinker’s last project before his sudden death on February 8, 2013 (at the age of 42) from an aortic aneurysm.

Set in 1983 and inspired by true events, contract killer Jesse Weiland with Aryan Brotherhood affiliations gets busted by Baton Rouge police detective Bud Carter. Facing life in prison and losing his wife and child, Jesse agrees to turn state’s evidence and become an informant to help take down the South’s most powerful crime ring. When the syndicate orders Carter’s death and Weiland is identified as a snitch (resulting in the execution of his family), the two are on a explosive manhunt to take down the mob and its crime boss Lutin Adams.
