Get your applications together designers- it’s time to start casting for the next season of “Project Runway.” Sources from Lifetime TV and Bunim/Murray Productions ended speculation that “Project Runway” would be permanently replaced by “Under the Gunn” and announced today that they are in the beginning stages of casting for season thirteen of the hit reality television show “Project Runway.”

“Project Runway” has been the launching point for many now well established designers whose creations regularly adorn the red carpet and show at Fashion Weeks around the country. Even contestants who didn’t win the show’s Project Runway Top Designer title have seen boosts to their careers.

The requirements to apply are very lenient. As in other years, to be considered for “Project Runway: Season Twelve” you must be 21 years of age or older by June 1, 2014. You must be a legal resident of the United States or be able to obtain the necessary visa that will entitle you to legally remain in the United States for the full duration of filming the show which normally takes about six weeks.

If you have already had some success as a designer that does not mean you’re ineligible. Anyone who has not achieved more than $100,000 gross sales as a fashion designer is eligible for the casting call.

Full guidelines and an application form can be found online here. Along with the completed application you will need to include photos of yourself, a copy of your driver’s license, several photos of at least three pieces you’ve completed, and a three to five minute video.

From these online applications Bunim/Murray and Lifetime TV will select a list of semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be required to travel, at their own expense, to an interview with casting directors. There are several interview spots across the country and semi-finalists are free to choose which location works best for them. The semi-finals will all take place immediately following the casting deadline. They normally take place in New York City, Los Angeles, and select major cities across the country.

The deadline to apply is April 14, 2014. In the past the casting agency has held one or two open casting calls that anyone is welcome to appear at regardless of their application status. These tend to be in New York City and Los Angeles only. But there is no guarantee that there will be open casting calls this year. Your best chance to appear on the show is always to go through the formal application process.

It is recommended that applications are over nighted so you don’t miss the deadline. Any applications received after the April 14 deadline will not be accepted.
