One of the latest wedding dress trends to hit the market is the prevalence of appliqués, or combinations of fabric with details like beading and flowers.
The use of appliqués has grown in various ways and many brides are selecting dresses that incorporate much more of their identity. We’re seeing dazzling dresses that are short and incorporate sophisticated beading, and we’re also witnessing an emergence of white gowns with surprising hues appliquéd on them.
Another interesting trend has been the application of black on start white dresses, which results in an elegant, refined appearance.
Floral appliqués with lace detailing have become popular as well and we’ve seen them on a variety of gowns. Look for this trend on the single-strap shoulder dress, or applied to the side of a dress, which then allows for the gown to ruffle, and gather right on the hip.
Bear in consideration that not all appliques will coordinate nicely with all gowns, so it's best to remain keen on which applique to apply to a dress.
