Applications for 2012 Green Expo due Mar. 19, 2012

One of Bakersfield's newest "Green" events will be happening again soon. The 2012 Greater Bakersfield Green Expo, which showcases recycling and renewable energy businesses in Kern County, will be held on April 14, 2012, at Yokuts Park. This third annual event, held in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup, will also be offering several thousands of dollars in prizes to students for their art projects related to the "green" theme.

Categories for the art projects include Best Presentation and Best Use of Recycled Material. Prizes of $1000, $750, $500, and $250 will be awarded in each category. A special Mayor's Award of $1000 will be presented to the entry that has the best combined score of the two categories.

In addition, the top 50 entries will be showcased in a special exhibit at the Bakersfield Museum of Art on April 26, 2012. These entries will be eligible for the Chairman's Award.
