Applebee's waitress: Canned after posting receipt online

Applebee's fired a waitress after she posted a photo of a message she received on a receipt online. Said message was in regard to gratuity and was written by a female pastor and read "I give God 10% why do you get 18?" The pastor still left a tip. On Feb. 1, The Inquisitr said that Applebee's made the right decision, but there is still a lot of debate firing around the internet tonight.

As previously reported, Chelsea was insulted by the message written on the receipt but she also found it funny -- thus her decision to post it online. The food establishment chose to fire her, basically because management felt that she shared private company information in a public manner.

The Applebee's waitress has a lot of support coming from all over the country today. People have been writing to Applebee's, sending the company's Twitter account tweets, and posting messages on the company's public Facebook page. At this point, Applebee's is standing by their decision.

"Regrettably, and without the restaurant's knowledge, [the waitress] took it upon herself to take a Guest's receipt, with the name clearly visible, and posted it online with her own commentary. That is a clear violation of our Guest's privacy and against the franchisee's company policy that the Team Member was provided when hired," a statement on the company's Facebook page reads in part.

Should Applebee's have fired the waitress?
