International Business Times reported today that according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities Apple could release the iPhone 6, the iPad Air 2, and the 12-inch MacBook in the very near future. The Company will release two versions of the iPhone 5 - one with a 4.7" display, and the other with a 5.5" display.
5.5" iPhone 6 phablet
The 5.5" model will be offered as a 'phablet'. Taiwan’s “Commercial Times” reported that the 5.5" iPhone 6 might not be ready for the masses before 2015 due to an issue with the battery. Suppliers of the battery may not be able to meet Apple's requirement for a 2 millimeters or thinner battery as the Company wants to introduce a larger phone with t thinner body. Generally, smart phone batteries have a thickness of roughly 2.8 / 2.9 millimeters.
iPad Air 2
Kuo suggested that updated iPad Air could feature an improved Touch ID system and a new Apple A8 processor. The anticipated release of the iPad Air 2 is around the third quarter of this year, earlier than the previous model. The first generation iPad Air was released in November. Analysts expect Apple to introduce a "desktop-class" 64-bit computing approach to push the A8 processor to the next level. A report by J.P. Morgan's Rod Hall suggests that the A8 processor could outperform Intel's Core i5 processors.
Kuo also anticipates Apple to will finally include Retina in the 12" model of the MacBook Air, along with a fanless design and a new trackpad. "We expect the unprecedented 12" model will boast both the portability of the 11" model, and productivity of the 13" model. The high resolution display will also offer the outstanding visual experience of the Retina MacBook Pro. The offering will likely be lighter and slimmer than the existing MacBook Air to further highlight ease of portability in the cloud computing era."
