Apple is trying to get the Tablet out for the holiday.
Apologies for the overload of Apple news, but this is a late breaking story that is sure to elate people looking forward to this tablet sized computer that the guys in Cupertino are apparently releasing.
Now, the news is coming from the Financial Times via Gizmodo and as always rumors are rumors (our Business Tech Examiner had a great article on the Tablet which you can find here) so take this with a grain of salt. What they are saying is that Apple is trying to get the tablet out in September with the new batch of iPod’s. Of course, this goes against recent rumors that it would debut sometime early in 2010.
According to the articles, Apple has been working with record labels and book publishers on iTunes features for the tablet. They also go on to note that the tablet will feature a 10-inch touch screen and will be running on the iPhone OS.
Awesome, and yet, that’s not all.
Apparently it will connect to the internet using Wi-Fi and will also feature a book marketplace. For those of you who haven’t been following the Kindle news, this is the second product in a week that could signal the demise of Amazon’s flagship eReader.
Here are some other excerpts about the Tablet from the Financial Times article:
“The talks come as Apple is separately racing to offer a portable, full-featured, tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season, in what the entertainment industry hopes will be a new revolution. The device could be launched alongside the new content deals, including those aimed at stimulating sales of CD-length music, according to people briefed on the project.”
And of course, to add fuel to the fire:
“Apple is gambling that it can succeed where everyone else has flopped, including Microsoft, which tirelessly pushed a tablet-ready version of its Windows operating system as a personal favourite of founder Bill Gates.”
