Apple's new iPhone, expected to be announced next month, is supposedly going to be offered in a gold tone for the first time. Following weeks of rumors and numerous component and prototype case leaks, many tech writers conclude a gold iPhone will be released by Apple, according to ABC News on Monday, Aug. 19. The new smartphone is also expected to be labeled the iPhone 5S, just as the iPhone 4 did with the iPhone 4S.
Besides claims gold is one of the easiest colors to anodize onto the iPhones, gold also happens to be one of the most popular after-market color adjustments for current iPhones, according to TechCrunch's MG Siegler.
The new gold color is just one of the many rumored features of the next incarnation of Apple's iPhone. According to multiple recent reports, the next iPhone 5 will also have a faster processor, better camera and a fingerprint sensor.

There are equally strong rumors that Apple will release a cheaper, plastic version of the iPhone called the iPhone 5C. The scaled down version is likely to be offered in a multitude of colors, including green, blue, pink and white.
But none of those have had nearly the same reverberation as the gold iPhone rumors.
