The world's number one brand wants to break ground within 60 days. In mid-October, the city council unanimously gave final approval to the space-ship style project.
Apple Campus 2
Barring any unforeseen objections, Apple and the city will make an official announcement about the new campus on November 19.
The campus’ centerpiece will be an iconic circular office building that will accommodate up to 12,000 employees. The style and shape will reflect the innovative brand as does the lighter and thinner iPad Air. The building will be four-stories in height and total 2.8 million square feet. Ample green space and walkways will replace the current asphalt surface.
Apple Workforce Impact
The tech company that Steve Jobs is known for growing is hiring 7,400 employees in its local northern California sphere. The number of Apple employees based in Cupertino has grown at a rate of 18 percent during the past five years.
The company's sales increased more than six times between 2006 and 2012 from $24.6 billion to $ 16.6 billion. Apple surpassed Coca-Cola in September 2013 for the title of world's number one brand.
Apple makes up about 40 percent of Cupertino's job base with 16,000 employees. When the campus is completed, the company estimates it will directly and indirectly support about 24,000 jobs in Cupertino alone.
