Apple is taking strides towards adding a flash to the camera on their iPhone. It has just been reported today by AppleInsider that Apple is trying to acquire LED camera flash components on a grand scale. This report adds speculation of a flash on the iPhone’s camera, as well as the future of the iPhone.
A lack of a camera flash has been the go to move for iPhone detractors since the iPhone’s inception. If a flash were to be added to the iPhone, then the iPhone’s greatest weakness could become a strength. Also in Apple’s plans are to add a flash camera to the iPod Touch, a device without a camera altogether.
Apple has already planned to upgrade the actual camera on the next generation iPhone from a 3.2 megapixel camera to a 5 megapixel camera. This would give the iPhone one of the most potent cameras on the smartphone market, as well as upgrade an already adequate camera.
As Apple plans for a new decade with the iPhone, innovations such as a flash are necessary to stay on top of the smartphone mountain. Every other provider is currently gunning for the iPhone and with the uncertainty of future providers, it’s Apple’s task to create the best device possible to survive.
