Apple plans major MacBook Pro upgrade in June

Yesterday, it was announced that Apple has lost stock as the world's most valuable company. However, at a small industry conference in Burbank this morning, Paul Mueller -- who frequently contributes to this column -- revealed that Apple is not taking the bad press lightly and is revamping their MacBook Pro series the most it has in years. Here are some details of what we may see in June of 2013:

  • Increased resolution on 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina series
  • Intel Haswell processors on both the 13-inch and 15-inch units
  • Better battery life (if that's even possible)
  • Discreet graphics processors on both the 13 and 15-inch versions
  • .3 ounces lighter for both versions
  • Better, more crisp display (Is that even possible?)
  • Prices for both units to be reduced by $100
  • A new video editing program to be included on both versions
  • A new photo editing program to be included on both versions

Even though the updated 2013 MacBook Pro units aren't scheduled to be shipped until June, things could easily change and we could see an upgrade by May. We will also soon have details on the new 2013 MacBook Air. Keep your eye on this column for more details.
