Another day, another iPhone 6 leak; two new photos surfaced online this week showing off what is allegedly the front panel of the upcoming iPhone 6. The snapshot leaks purportedly come from factory workers at Foxconn, Apple’s main iPhone manufacturer in China.
The pics were posted on Chinese micro-blog, Sina Weibo early Tuesday (April 15) morning by the username “jiezhixc”. As AppleInsider reports, the images of what claims to be upcoming iPhone 6 iOS 8 phone front panel reveals hints of a 4.7-inch display. Both pictures show a white color scheme smartphone front panel resembling a large iPhone next to what appears to be an iPhone 5S.
This new piece of evidence supports ongoing rumors and predictions from industry analysts about Apple revamping its iPhone design for the next flagship release. It follows reports over the weekend detailing the leak of technical drawings that popped up online allegedly modeling the iPhone 6’s chassis.
Images of what appears to be the next generation iPhone’s mold further underlines speculations of a larger form factor. Leaked blueprint sketches and schematics for the iPhone 6 also surfaced on Weibo earlier this month.
According to MacRumors, whispers about iPhone finally joining the ranks of larger screen smartphones can be traced back to 2012. Someone familiar with Apple iPhone 6 development plans told Bloomberg that the Cupertino, Calif. based company will release its largest screen flagship phone during the second half of 2014. The unnamed source said to expect two models of the iPhone 6 upon release, sporting displays of 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches.
Leaked internal documents from the Apple vs. Samsung lawsuit seem to corroborate with the slew of iPhone 6 rumors and leaks. Consumer desire for large screen devices in this day and age of video chat, media streaming and Instagram photo sharing is forcing Apple to rethink the iPhone’s 4-inch display size.
Competitive smartphone makers such as HTC, Samsung and Sony offer screens as large as 6-inches on Google Android OS based handsets. “Screen size is one of the things where Apple has to catch up to the Android camp. Innovation in components has been a key for Apple since the first iPhone came out,” analyst at Yuanta Financial Holding Co. in Taipei, Dennis Chan said.
When it comes to iPhone 6 rumors out of China, there’s a bit of skepticism even with photo leaks. We can’t rule out the possibility that they might be knockoffs. Although previous reports suggest that Foxconn is set to begin production on the iPhone 6 within the coming months, Apple has declined to comment, according to CNET.
As G 4 Games reports, iPhone 6 production rumors point to a May kick off for the 4.7-inch model, while the larger 5.5-inch model is said to enter mass production in September.
