Bring the family to Peddler’s Village in Lahaska this weekend for the Annual Apple Festival. Celebrate fall and the local harvest with live entertainment, tons of food, apple pie eating contests and plenty of other family-friendly activities. The Annual Apple Festival takes place on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day.
This year, Bechdolt’s Orchard in Hellertown will be the featured farm at the festival, bringing all 12 varieties of apples grown on their family farm for people to sample. There will also be a cider-making demonstration using an antique cider press. Try cider from Solebury Orchard, and pick up a jug or two to take home as well.
There are so many options to choose from, and just about all of your Peddler’s Village favorites get in on the action. From apple fritters and apple cake to apple donuts and apple pie, you’ll have a hard time deciding what to try first. Enjoy homemade candy and caramel apples from Skip’s Candy Corner. Town Crier Bakery will be serving their famous apple dumplings, a delicious treat that’s known to draw quite a crowd. They’ll also have bacon apple pies, apple fritters, mulled donuts, apple butter cakes and much more.
For a little friendly competition, join in the fun during the apple pie eating contest in the afternoon. The contest will take place on the balcony on the Main Green both Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. Sign up at the Hospitality Booth by 2:45 to be entered for a chance to participate. Six contestants in each category (10 and under, 11 to 14, and 15 years and up) will be chosen in a random drawing.
As if the food wasn’t enough, there are plenty of other activities going on as well. Check out local musicians including The Overtones, Daisy Jug Band and Mango Men who will be performing throughout the Village. Take a horse or pony ride, or shop the unique handcrafted items at the Street Road Green Artisan Area.
Peddler’s Village is home to over 70 specialty shops, six restaurants and the 70-room Golden Plough Inn. For more information, visit www.peddlersvillage.com. Or click here for a complete schedule of entertainment.
