In the wake of the recent iPhone 4 pre-release sell out, Apple and AT&T had to stop selling reserves of the device as the demand far exceeded the supply. This put Apple at a disadvantage as iPhone-4mania was at a peak going into the pre-order, and the inability to take pre-orders could have killed their momentum. Hours ago, Apple came to a solution that works well for everyone involved.
Apple is now once again taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4 on its website, but it has created a new release date of July 14. Anyone that has already managed to secure a reserve on an i4 before AT&T and Apple temporarily stopped selling them will still get their iPhone’s on launch date June 24. Everyone else can still get their device by reserving it now, and waiting until July 14.
Apple’s solution is a pretty solid one overall. They managed to protect the initial launch date for those who were devoted or lucky enough to secure an i4, while still providing a way for the rest of the masses to get it. That being said, I wouldn’t hesitate again if I already didn’t have one reserved. They already sold out in a matter of hours, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it happen again.
There is no doubt that the iPhone 4 is going to be the hottest piece of tech in 2010. It’s got big name apps, superior hardware, and innovations, which can allow Apple to take an epic lead in the smartphone wars and possibly even put down a few competitors.

Wes,
My source is Apple's website itself. It tells of the new date for iPhone pre-orders,and that new release date for the NEW orders. Therefore, everyone that reserved the iPhone before the servers went down are fine. I've looked all over the internet and there is no mention of the initial launch date being pushed back so you don't have worry.
