The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the nations of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru to file briefs against Arizona’s SB1070.
On Tuesday evening, Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ) said: “As do many citizens, I find it incredibly offensive that these foreign governments are using our court system to meddle in a domestic legal dispute and to oppose the rule of law.”
Brewer continued: “What’s even more offensive is that this effort has been supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. American sovereignty begins in the U.S. Constitution and at the border. I am confident the 9th Circuit will do the right thing and recognize foreign interference in U.S. legal proceedings and allow the State of Arizona to respond to their brief.”
Allowing foreign governments to interfere in a domestic, legal matter is unprecedented. However, it is not surprising--considering the fact that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is dominated by Democratic-appointed judges (12 by Bill Clinton).
The court is made up of 15 Democratic appointees, with 10 placed on the court by Republican presidents.

Well, I can certainly understand the French Revolution now, where the Ruling Class was guillotined whith gusto. Only thing is, we should have started doing that with all the anti-Second Amendment judges that have infested the judiciary since the 60s and 70s.

I hope Arizona appeals this all the way to the SCOTUS. No way do foreign governments have any jurisdiction in State law or State legal matters. This should be overturned as so many others have been from this whacked out court.

Mr Gibson (or anyone else) are you sure this is the ruling? My research indicates that the only decision by the 9th so far is to not expediate the hearing and that the actual hearing is set for mid-November. Could Brewer be pushing for the expediated hearing only for political purposes and not really care about the merits being heard and considered? Also, wasn't there a case in the Reagan administration where they asked Margaret Thatcher to file a 'friend of he court" briefing - I think it had something to do with Noriega in Panama but I'm not sure

An appeals court cannot "allow" a foreign nation to sue a state unless the state gives consent. I other words, it's not only absurd but also entirely unconstitutional.
