On Jan. 7, NYC FAB 50, sponsors for "TWIST & SHOUT: New York Celebrate The Beatles," announced in a press release they have added another guest performer to the show and gave details of the ticket presale.

The concert, taking place Feb. 6 at New York's legendary Apollo Theater, will feature R&B legends Lloyd Price and Gary U.S. Bonds, plus Bettye LaVette, Barence Whitfield, Kitoto Van Hebb, the daughter of Bobby Hebb, and Melvin Van Peebles. Mary Wilson of the Supremes has just been added as special guest of honor performer, NYC FAB 50 said Tuesday, and more performers will be announced over the next week. The gala features a singer (Gary U.S. Bonds) who toured with The Beatles and the daughter of another singer (Bobby Hebb) who also shared the bill with them.

Opening acts include singer/guitarist Hal Bruce from Halifax, Canada and Rolando Giambelli's Two of Us from Italy, veterans of Liverpool's Beatle Week. In honor of the Apollo, they will be performing Motown songs that The Beatles covered in their early years.

There will be an exclusive Ticketmaster pre-sale for fans starting at noon ET Jan. 8 and continuing through noon ET Jan. 10. The code for purchase of tickets is FAB50 and there is a limit of 10 tickets per person. Tickets start at $50. The general sale to the public begins at noon ET Jan. 10.

"TWIST & SHOUT: New York Celebrate The Beatles" is the first event of "NYC FAB 50: Celebrating The Music of The Beatles," and one of several charity concerts being held as part of New York City's Beatles 50th anniversary celebration.

The Apollo Theater is located at 253 West 125th Street in New York City. All of the net proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Food Bank for New York City. The show is not affiliated with Apple Corps Ltd. or The Beatles.
