Aioli sounds fancy, doesn't it?
You see it all over restaurant menus; Beef burger with chipotle aioli, aioli sauce, aioli this, aioli that.
Well, it turns out it's not as complicated as originally thought. It's quite simple really.
As a general description, it is mayonnaise and stuff. This may not sound enticing anymore, but the "stuff" makes or breaks the aioli.
Good aioli will have a combination of both herbs and spices. 'Special sauce' (mayo and ketchup) from the fast food restaurants does not fall under this category.
Aioli is quick, simple, and has the power to transform any meal. Burgers, sandwiches, pastas, and it can even be used for dipping purposes.
Here is a quick an easy aioli sauce perfect for any meal.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 1/2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 2 1/2 tbsp chopped green onion
- pinch of salt and pepper
To make this aioli, it's as simple as stirring each of the ingredients listed into a bowl together, then serve.
Experiment with a variety of different flavor combinations to create new aioli's. Spicy, herb-filled, and citrus aioli's are always good starting points.
Enjoy!
