“19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” (1 John 4:19-21)
Have you ever thought about your love relationship with your siblings? Brothers and sisters in most cases are taught by parents to love one another. They are told, “Get along and be kind.” Parents have joy at seeing their children act in loving ways. Children show honor and respect by following their parent’s request to have actions and words that uplift one another. Such relationships bring life, happiness, and fulfillment.
God wants the same relationships for His children. Believers in Jesus Christ are brothers and sisters. God is their loving Father and wants them to love as He does. A believer cannot claim God as Father if he or she does not love others. Brothers and sisters in Christ do right actions toward one another and point to the invisible God on His heavenly throne.
Challenge: Believer, live a life of love for the saints and prove that God is real!
