Former light-heavyweight champion and Olympic medalist Antonio Tarver was arrested on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Clearwater, FL.
After a routine traffic stop, officers noticed the "Magic Man" had a fugitive warrant in Clark County, NV, where Las Vegas is located. According to TMZ, as of Monday, March 3, 2014, court records document Tarver has an outstanding debt with the Wynn Resort and Casino, located on the world famous Las Vegas Strip.
Tarver, a former boxing analyst for Showtime, was relieved of that post after being suspended by the California State Athletic Commission when he tested positive for a banned substance in a pre-fight drug test before facing Lateef Kayode. He and Kayode fought to a draw. The official outcome of the fight was later changed to a no contest.
Currently, Tarver is being held on $215,425 bail in Pinellas County Jail, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Also, according to the Review-Journal, Tarver faces one count each of passing a bad check and theft, as he failed to pay off $200,000 in casino markers he was issued in July 2012.
Tarver won the bronze medal here in Atlanta at the 1996 Olympic Games.
