Nov. 16, 2009 - Antoinette Davis court appearance unfolded today as she entered the courtroom with an unsightly appearance. The media was on the scene as noted by the Judge.
Shaniya Davis was last seen Tuesday morning according to Antoinette Davis, Shaniya's biological mother. However, Mario McNeill was last seen holding Shaniya Davis at a Sanford hotel. Antoinette faces multiple charges, including human trafficking.
Many people were involved in the search for the missing North Carolina girl, including citizens from Raleigh. We now turn to the court appearance.
As Antoinette Davis entered the courtroom of the Cumberland County Detention Center wearing a light tan jail jumpsuit, her eyebrows were that of a confused individual. Antoinette licked her lips in constant motion as many would during a drug withdraw. However, there has been no confirmation on drug tests on Antoinette Davis since her arrest. Antoinette Davis has been charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors.
After the Judge mentioned what Antoinette had done to Shaniya Davis on November 10, a woman standing next to her tried to waive the reading. However, the Judge assured the importance of the reading and denied the request.
The Judge mentioned that Antoinette was charged with felony child abuse and she answered that she understood with a slow "yeah" as she licked her lips after a fast eye-roll towards the ceiling.
The Judge proceeded to tell Antoinette that human trafficking was a class C felony punishable by 261 months in prison. No emotional response seemed to appear as she softly said "yeah".
The Judge continued to tell Antoinette Davis that she was also charged with felony child abuse for prostitution as it carries a class E felony offering 8 months in prison. She replied that "yes" she understood.
The Judge then read her the two misdemeanor charges against her stating that it could carry 60 days each.
Antoinette asked for a court appointed public defender and the Judge approved her request.
Antoinette Davis was told not to speak to anyone other than her public defender or she will break her constitutional "right to remain silent" as it could be held against her.
The Judge said that he will continue her case until December 3, 2009.
In the days to come when Antoinette Davis might begin to become semi-aware of her actions, many wonder just why a mother could do such a thing to a beautiful daughter. In most cases when an inmate is a security risk they are placed in a separate cell and away from other inmates. There is yet confirmation as to what occurs behind bars surrounding the Antoinette Davis case.

On Tuesday the Fayetteville Police Department released information surrounding the case of the once missing 5-year-old girl, Shaniya Davis. The body has been officially identified as that of Shaniya Davis. The cause of death is soon to come.
Shaniya Davis autopsy should reveal more information surrounding this case. Within that autopsy through the medical examiners office authorities may be able to gather enough information towards further charges.
Update Tuesday November 17: At 4 p.m. Bradley Hartlock, Shaniya's father, released his views over his daughter which he calls his "angel". Mr. Lockhart asked that everyone pull together so that this does not happen to another child. Bradley Lockhart warned others to not ignore a situation when a child could be in danger. He then thanked everyone for their help. During the Bradley Lockhart news conference he answered questions from the media. Mr. Lockhart finished with a word to Shaniya, his little girl that has been found dead. "You're in better hands, you don't have to hurt no more."
The Fayetteville Observer released the information that more charges are expected. There will be a news briefing on Wednesday at 10 a.m. as it's been moved due to the conference the family held today at 4.

Update Wednesday November 18: The Fayetteville Police Department has not reached a jurisdiction in which the case will be held. Until they reach that decision the Fayetteville Police Department will not release any further charges.

Human trafficking "Class C felony" and ONLY 261 months... CHILD PROSTITUTION only a "Class E" felony with only 8 months in prison!!!! As a mother that just buried my own infant daughter this year, I cannot even IMAGINE what kind of a monster this woman is. Just seeing those creepy hotel photos of that ANIMAL carrying that baby made my stomach lurch. I nearly vomited at the mere THOUGHT of what this living, breathing Satan in the flesh was about to do to her. Starting with "mommy",every single one of them should be executed immediately. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
I am having my first child at 38 yrs old because I wanted to be the best parent I could and be able to care, protect and provide for my children, I am SICK with grief for what ever this baby girl had to endure do to her mother???? The felony murder rule makes any participant in a felony (such as felony child abuse) criminally liable for any deaths that occur during or in furtherance of that felony. I believe the mother should be charged with murder.

Well, bleeding heart liberals will want to 'understand' why the mother did that and 'help' her to become a better mother so that she can care for her unborn child....just sit back and watch.....One of the many reasons why our court system let's out these molestors - is to understand why they are the way they are. Anyone(man or woman) who harms a child should be sterilized. Especially those who keep having multiple children by multiple fathers. Birth control is free. I've been watching the coverage of this with discust and anger beyond description. The Mother of this little girl and the animal that murdered her should be put to death. That being said how is it that everyone is giving the father a pass on this. Five weeks ago, he took his little girl away from a normal childhood with siblings and an aunt who loved her and gave her to an unbalanced woman living in a single wide trailer that looked like a junk heap. Not only did this person (I won't call him a man) leave this child he did nothing to assure that this little girl was receiving even the minimum of care. A simple call to the childs school would have alerted him to the horror this poor baby was delivered (by him) into. He has no right to call himself a father. Yet Nancy Grace and almost every person who even mentions him refers to him as if he had no responsibility for this childs horrible death. He gave his baby to her killers & did nothing to check on her welfare. He is an animal
I do feel sorry for her father. But I think in his mind he thought he was doing the right thing by letting her build a relationship with her child. You can't predict the future I'm sure he thought she would be ok. I can't see him knowingly sending her to be abused. If the mother is on drugs she probably told a million lies to get the daughter out there. That's what drug addicts do they lie! And I still believe the boyfriend played a role in this terrible situation. This just sickened me to my core I had a friend in my teen years her mother was on crack and she would force her to have sex with dealers for her drugs. Check up to assure that the little girl was alright. If even a tenth of what the areas local news reports are right the so called "friends" of this monster woman were burning the child on the arms with cigerettes just one week after this so call "Dad" left her. Not only was the child almost immediately being abused she was pulled out of school with no reasonable reason given (check the public records on this). Yet super dad did nothing over 5 weeks to check on the welfare of this child he was responsible for protecting. I am a Father to a little girl, and an Uncle to my little neices. What this beautiful little baby must have endured lives me physically ill. At this point the kind of justice I want comes more from the Bible then from our perverse laws related to child abuse. Right now an "Eye for and Eye" sounds about right. We have to make it so that any monster who even considers harming little kids understands the consequences would be painful and permanent.

all i can say is that this is a terrible tragedy and things like this should nt happen to anyone. All can say how you feel and what should be done but its things we can not chnage although God sees what has been done and he punishes those of evil. all we can do is pray for the family to be able to make it through this situation .
