Antiques Uniques Etc. is one of the most overlooked antiques shops in the Charleston, SC, area. Perhaps it is because it is so near the entrance to Kiawah and Seabrook Islands that most people just pass right by on their way to the beach, the Charleston County Parks Beachwalker Park, in particular. Or people may be on their way to Bohicket Marina.
The owner, Claudia Kingsley, is always there. She collects everything herself and loves everything she sells. At the entrance to her shop are two giant iron classic Greek garden urns. She loves the old paint color on the old shutters she sells. She has a colorful collection of ceramic things. You cannot miss all the old jewelry. There was a very nice tramp art box on a shelf. All kinds of architectural antiques lean against the wall. Everywhere you look you see something you did not notice before. Barely noticeable was an iron horse head tie up for horses that looked really old and was unusually decorative hiding next to the entrance. Garden things are everywhere. The place is absolutely full. You have to take your time to see it all and not miss anything. Sometimes she exhibits in local antiques shows.
The entrance to the small shopping center she is in is exactly at the stop light at the intersection of Bohicket Rd. and River Rd., where they merge and become Betsy Kerrison Parkway. It is the only stop light before the entrance to Kiawah and Seabrook Islands, so you can not miss it.
The exact address of Antiques Uniques Etc. is: 3714 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island, SC, 29455. Their phone number is 843-795-1994. They do not have a website. More pictures can be found at www.ClydeAntique.com, the site for antique shopping in Charleston.
