There are countless useful anti-viral herbs which are effective in defending the body from viruses and other dangerous microbes. Unlike anti-viral medications, often prescribed by doctors once people are diagnosed with the flu, anti-viral herbs do not have negative side effects. In fact, they tend to have multiple beneficial phytochemicals, which work together to not only protect the body from bacterial and viral infections, but to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the immune system.

How to use anti-viral herbs
All of these herbs help the body destroy or resist pathogens. They can be taken as herbal infusions, steep two teaspoons of the dried herb in hot or boiling water for ten minutes. Covering the tea while steeping will ensure the maximum potency of the herbs. Drink from one to three cups daily. Herbs are most effective when taken cumulatively. Try drinking a cup of anti-viral herbal tea every afternoon during the flu season. Try blending Echinacea, clove, and aniseed with licorice and rooibos for an aromatic anti-viral herbal infusion.
Herbal tinctures are also an effective medium for anti-viral herbs. Take about fifteen drops of an herbal tincture one to two times a day in juice or water.
