According to reports, 22-year-old Steven Torres, also of Queens, has been accused of stabbing the elderly man to death because he didn’t like a gesture the man made towards him. Torres claims Orozco was coming on to him and responded by attacking Orozco at 90th St. and Roosevelt Ave.
Torres then fled the scene only to be captured a few blocks away and then arrested. Sources also report that Orozco was attacked while parking his car after he dropped off his wife.
“He (Torres) said the victim was blowing kisses to him. That’s what set him off,” a source said. “This is what hue is claiming.”
This is the second time Torres has been accused of a stabbing. In September, he was accused of stabbing another man who allegedly came on to him. The victim survived, but this time he is being charged with murder as a hate crime.
this is the third anti-gay homicide in New York City this year following the deaths of Mark Carson and Islan Nettles. Since Orozco is married, it is unclear as to wether he was actually gay or made up by Torres as part of his defense.
