Anthrax address fans: "we are not holding open tryouts"

Anthrax issued a statement on Wed, Jan 9 via their official Facebook page regarding messages they have been sent by fans willing to try out for the now vacant guitar position the band has.

The status update reads as follows: "We love you all, and are confident you shred like Yngwie Malmsteen after a case of Red Bull, but to answer all 57,000 messages at once, WE ARE NOT DOING AUDITIONS for lead guitarist. \m/."

Rob Caggiano resigned from his lead guitar duties in Anthrax on Jan 4 to focus on studio production.

The band clearly wants someone who is already known in the music industry to fill the role on the upcoming Metal Alliance tour and other future endeavors. Who do you think it should be? Leave your answer in the comments below.

I enjoy writing about music - predominately heavy metal. I am always interviewing bands at their shows and reviewing albums. A strong supporter of local music, as well as a fellow chucker. I play bass and sing for the NY/NJ crossover thrash band Zamboni and have booked my own shows several times...
