The primary election for Democratic New York mayoral candidates ended Tuesday with a bizarre night for one candidate.
Weiner received less than five percent of the votes in the Democratic primary election according to WNYC as of Wednesday, which was a far cry from the more than 40 percent that Bill de Blasio received.
The former U.S. senator took the results as a sign that he would not be continuing and went to Connolly’s Pub in Manhattan to thank his few loyal followers and staff.
One person he did not thank was his wife, Huma Abedin. Abedin was also not in attendance when her husband spoke to the group at Connolly’s.
She was also not with Weiner at the polls when he went with their son to vote. It was confirmed that she voted, but just not when or where. News sources claim that she was busy working as an aide to Hillary Clinton at the time.
Instead, Weiner’s sexting partner Sydney Leathers waited outside of the party against the campaign team's wishes.
Leathers, who showed up in a tight red and black dress and high heels, waited outside of the concession party and spoke to press.
Her texts with Weiner were revealed before the election and caused a media firestorm against Weiner during his bid for mayor.
"We went to his campaign headquarters today first, and he decided to rearrange his schedule because apparently he doesn't think he can handle confronting me or me being in his presence so I felt like it was only appropriate to make one last stop," she said according to reports.
Leathers appeared in an adult film ‘Weiner and Me’ earlier this year wherein she played herself with an adult actor who played Weiner.
Weiner heard of Leathers' arrival ran into a nearby McDonald’s fast food restaurant to avoid her, but was followed by her and media cameras until he got into his car.
He flipped his middle finger at reporters as his car drove away.
Leathers continues to try to perform in adult movies and recently underwent extensive plastic surgery to better market herself in the industry.
