According to the Huffington Post, (September 10, 2013) Anthony Weiner "flipped off a reporter" after giving his concession speech in the New York City Mayoral race. According to the Huffington Post article, Weiner apparently was in a very bad mood when he conceded defeat, resulting in the inappropriate, obscene gesture which was directed at NBC Ch4 reporter, Shimon Prokupecz. Prokupecz claimed to have video footage of Weiner making the gesture as his car sped away after the concession speech which was made at an election night party.
Weiner, who is married and a former New York City Congressman, was forced to resign from Congress just one year ago by his own Democratic Caucus, including Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, after sending nude pictures of himself to unsuspecting women on the internet. Weiner was attempting a big political comeback with the claim that he had sought psychological help and been cured of his need to be flirtatious with women and to send narcissistic photos of himself to strange women over the internet. But then allegations arose that he had been exchanging explicit nude pictures, emails and messages with a twenty-two year old woman. Weiner copped up to the allegations and once again asked for forgiveness and understanding from voters with the claim that he once again was seeking help with this problem and was seeking a resolution to it. Weiner also got into at least two heated exchanges with voters and reporters during the course of his Mayoral race this year.
The voters of New York City were not swayed by Weiner's pleas for understanding nor by his verbal altercations with voters and reporters. In Tuesday's Democratic Primary, Weiner came in dead last with only 4.9% of the vote, as opposed to the top candidate, Bill de Blasio, who finished with 40.2% of the vote in the primary. At one time in this race, Weiner was considered to be the top candidate; but his semantics with the twenty-two year old coed and his subsequent attitude after being caught yet again, pivoted him to last place in the Mayoral race.
