Another day, another castmate added to The CW's The Selection pilot number two.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Anthony Head will portray King Clarkson in the show - taking over the part which Martin Donovan previously held during the first pilot effort.

Head will star as the regal father of Michael Malarkey's Prince Maxon, who rules the kingdom of Ilea as it struggles with revolts from two ends.

Head also joins Yael Grobglas, Lucien Laviscount, Celia Massingham, Peta Sergeant and Sean Patrick Thomas in the Alex Graves-directed second pilot effort for the network.

Set 300 years in the future, an epic romance centering on a working class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the Royal Prince’s hand to become the nation’s next queen. Balancing her loyalty to family, true love, and kingdom, she must attempt to remain true to herself as she navigates the cutthroat competition and palace intrigue, all while a budding rebellion threatens to topple the crown."

Book two of the series, The Elite, will hit shelves on April 23.
