Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly all popped Comic-Con Cherries during the Ant-Man Marvel Movies Panel on Saturday in front of 6,000+ fans in Hall H (and many who spent the night outside in line to get in). You can watch them in action in our VIDEO: Paul Rudd pops Comic-Con Cherry at Marvel Panel Hall H.
With a big grin, Paul Rudd (“40-yr-old Virgin”) confessed to 6,000+ fans, “This is my first time here. I’m Comic-Con virgin.” Paul added about his new Marvel character Ant-Man, “I’ve been doing this for awhile, but this is a whole other thing.” One of the fans then yelled that he was popping his Comic-Con cherry, which led to several LOLs on this topic.
When Moderator Chris Hardwick introduced Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael added, “I’ve popped enough cherries,” and then the crowd roared with laughter. Michael then added that he’s looking forward to doing a movie with a lot of special effects because his career has been mostly contemporary movies.
Michael gave an overview of the Ant-Man movie, “This is sort of based on a comic. It started in 1962. Stan Lee wrote it….They developed a serum to make a person reduce themselves to the size of an ant, but with the strength of a human being, and then went beyond that, more importantly, to learn how to communicate with ants because ants are armies...This is basically the story of a heist with his partner (played by Corey Stoll), which is taking the company in a different evil direction, and I have found a mentor in Paul to take over my position as Ant-Man.”
Evangeline Lilly (who was in Hall H earlier that day for “The Hobbit The Battle of The Five Armies”) then busted passionate fans in the front, especially mentioning, “the comic girl in the front, she always has something to say, the pop a cherry girl”.
For this new Marvel Movie, Paul Rudd also laughed about how most of the budget is going to CGI to remove his muscles for his character that is very different from Marvel’s well-known Captain America and Thor.
Big thanks to Moderator Chris Hardwick for the superhero cheers in Hall H. Go see the new film “Ant-Man” when it hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
